JOB VACANCY - MANAGER
The Fort Myer Thrift Shop (FMTS) is advertising for the position of Manager. This is a part-time position; the FMTS is open from 10am-2:30pm three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and one Saturday (occasionally two) a month. Work hours would be 9am-3pm, approximately 18-24 hours per week. Other days may be required as needed.
The incumbent of this position is responsible for the overall success and profitable operation of the Fort Myer Thrift Shop (FMTS) to accomplish its Mission – supporting the military and their families. All profits are given as scholarships to military family members and community grants to charitable agencies that support our military and their families in the National Capital Area.
The Manager is responsible for the management and operations of all aspects of the FTMS:
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
The FMTS is a private 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and is not affiliated with the Department of the Army. The FMTS is an all-ranks, all-service, primarily volunteer organization that operates on Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall (JBM-HH) with the written consent of the Garrison Commander. The consent is contingent upon compliance with the DODI-1000.15, AR 210-22, and other pertinent regulations.

- Must have a current military or dependent ID card.
- Managerial, supervisory, financial, and organizational skills.
- Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing.
- Prior thrift shop experience.
- Oversees a staff of six – an accountant/bookkeeper, main building cashier, donations coordinator, consignment coordinator, boutique cashier, and social media coordinator.
- Oversees the volunteers who contribute their time and talents to the shop.
- Knowledge of 501 (c)(3) organizations.
- Knowledge of military organizations to act as the primary liaison with the military community to include the Garrison Commander’s office, Morale Welfare and Recreation (MWR), Safety and Fire offices, Dept of Public Works (DPW), Base Security, and more.
- Accountable to the FMTS Board of Directors and interact with them regularly.

The Thrift Shop is an all ranks and all six services community organization.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with: * computer data entry * merchandising * office work * sales * stocking items * sorting and pricing our donated and consigned items. Some volunteer once a week, while others more frequently. We are flexible and value our volunteers.
