The Fort Myer Thrift Shop (FMTS) is advertising for the position of Consignment Coordinator. This is a part-time position; the FMTS is open from 10am-2:30pm three days a week - Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and one Saturday (occasionally two) a month. Work hours would be 9am-3pm on open days, approximately 18-24 hours per week. Other days may be required as needed.
The consignment coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the consignment process to support the overall successful operation of the FMTS to accomplish its Mission – supporting the military and their families. Funds raised at the thrift shop are awarded either as college scholarships to military family members or as community grants to charitable agencies that support our military and their families in the National Capital Area.

The FMTS is a private 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization and is not affiliated with the Department of the Army. The FMTS is an all-ranks, all-service, primarily volunteer organization that operates on Joint Base Myer–Henderson Hall (JBM-HH) with the written consent of the Garrison Commander. The consent is contingent upon compliance with the DODI-1000.15, AR 210-22, and other pertinent regulations.

- Ability to communicate, especially verbally, with consignors.
- Prior thrift shop experience.
- Ability to oversee volunteer consignment team.
- Accountability to the FMTS Manager.

- Coordination of Incoming Shop Donations:
- Act as the point of contact for individuals contacting the thrift shop to make donations.
- Ensure donors have a quality experience by providing clear guidelines on acceptable items.
- Liaising with staff, customers, volunteers, and outside organizations.
- Responsible for maintenance and organization of the donation area.
- Collaborate with management to strategize intake of items and address store inventory needs.
- Special Events and Operations Support:
- Assist with special events within the thrift shop as needed.
- Provide operational support as assigned.
- Represent the thrift shop at community events.
The Thrift Shop Donations Coordinator:
- Must have a current military or dependent ID card.
- Must have good interpersonal skills, especially verbal, to communicate with customers, volunteers, and staff, and a good sense of humor.
- Must have strong problem-solving skills, be detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment and be able to multitask.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and engage in frequent bending, squatting, lifting, loading, and repetitive motion.
- Is accountable to the FMTS Manager.

The Thrift Shop is an all ranks and all six services community organization.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with: * computer data entry * merchandising * office work * sales * stocking items * sorting and pricing our donated and consigned items. Some volunteer once a week, while others more frequently. We are flexible and value our volunteers.
